Sunday, the Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail will dedicate a 15-mile stretch of the statewide trail along the Eno River. The dedication will include a guided hike on a 4.9-mile stretch of just-opened trail linking the Falls Lake section of the MST at Pennys Bend with existing trail along the Eno at West Point on the Eno city park in Durham.
Two hikes are planned: one, a 1.9-mile hike at West Point on the Eno, and a second on the new 4.9-mile stretch. (I've hiked and helped with construction of a portion of this stretch, and it's got some great scenery.)
For this hike, you need to do two things: one, sign up here, as usual, and two, RSVP through the MST, by going here (http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e9wccft808a86f52&llr=54ke8qcab).
Because they are getting buses to shuttle hikers (a huge plus), you need to RSVP no later than Thursday.
How often do you get a chance to help christen trail! Take advantage of this opportunity.
